This is a table I used to sort out my Spring schedule. I had a lot of freedom in choosing my classes.
Class | Day | Time | Frequency Taught | Credits | Status | Note |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Writing the Article | Monday | 2:00 PM | Every semester | 0 | Kept | Non-credit, low stakes; useful and practical. I need to work on publishing. |
Interactive Technology and Pedagogy II | Monday | 4:15 PM | Every Spring semester | 3 | Kept | Needed for ITP Certificate; focuses on project design and skills; need to learn more skills. |
Participatory Democracy and Social Movements | Tuesday | 2:00 PM | Every Spring semester | 3 | Dropped | Very interesting topic; PhD cohort peer is also taking; not as relevant to immediate skills or knowledge needs. I may pop in for some sessions. Can take next year. |
Interactive Data Visualization | Tuesday | 6:30 PM | Every semester | 3 | Kept | Was worried about skill prerequisite; seems manageable, and fun. Nice way to learn something different; maybe I can use the skills in my ITP project or some of my research collaboration work. |
Critical Inquiries in Statistics and Quantification | Thursday | 2:00 PM | Every other spring semester | 3 | Kept | Was a wildcard when I registered, but seems very practical; I like the critical angle and need to some more stats literacy (even as I dislike statistical reasoning and research design in my own work). |
Critical Theory | Thursday | 6:30 PM | Every semester | 3 | Dropped | Really want to stay in this class, but is very high reading load and less connected to current research skills and needs. With instructor's permission I will audit with minimal reading, not required to do any of the written assignments. |
